Welcome to Smoky Mirror Arts Co’s presentation of "A Night in the Big Smoke"; a night where you take one giant step back into the craziness of the 1920's Chicago cabaret scene.
Smoky Mirror Arts Co. is Glass Ceiling Arts Collective's “next-gen” programme, a space where our young adult students can transition into the professional performance world.
This was an entirely youth led project, with both the Smoky Mirror Arts Co. concept and the cabaret being devised by our rangatahi. They pulled the cabaret together, featuring some of New Zealand's leading and award winning youth performers, to create paid work and raise awareness about the importance of offering inclusive onstage environments to emerging talent.
The name Smoky Mirror Arts Co. was inspired by the idea that the cast you see onstage is a reflection of today’s diverse society.
“Throw on your glad rags and join us as we take you on a journey to the 1920’s. We promise it will be the Cat’s Pyjamas!”
