Glass Ceiling Arts Collective Statement on Fees Increase (July 2024)

Over the past three years, Glass Ceiling Arts Collective has received incredible funding support from Manatū Taonga, the Ministry of Culture and Heritage. This support has allowed us to expand our reach from two classes in Auckland to 13 classes across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Every week, over 250 Disabled and non-disabled youth and adults benefit from improved well-being and skills-based training. This training not only aims to create happy and capable Kiwis but also to pave the way for meaningful jobs and careers. The investment from Manatū Taonga has also led to job creation: with over 25 tutors and support performers, as well as a variety of volunteer support persons, helping each week.

Unfortunately, the term of our funding through Manatū Taonga has come to an end. Compounding this, the economic landscape in New Zealand is uncertain, with more charities like Glass Ceiling Arts Collective competing for a shrinking pool of funding.

Reluctantly Glass Ceiling Arts Collective must increase the fee we charge for participation from $70 per term to $100.

Even with this increase, our fees remain significantly lower than those of many similar organisations. We are committed to keeping our fees as low as possible and removing financial barriers to participation. Our main objective is to ensure that everyone can attend our classes. Therefore, we encourage parents and caregivers to contact us if they need to pay less than the full amount.
