Call for Board Members!
🌟 Join the movement! 🌟
Are you passionate about making the arts more inclusive and accessible in our communities? Do you thrive on challenges and envision a more positive future for marginalised individuals? If so, Glass Ceiling Arts Collective wants YOU to join our board!
Glass Ceiling Arts Collective is a performing arts organisation dedicated to supporting marginalised communities of Aotearoa New Zealand, with a particular focus on young people with disabilities. Founded in 2020, we've quickly grown from a startup nonprofit to an established charity, poised for exciting times ahead. Operating in the challenging environments of arts and disability, we're committed to creating more access and inclusion, and meaningful opportunities for all.
Our Board is responsible for providing effective governance of the company, including contributing to the vision, values, and kaupapa, as well as strategic and artistic direction. We're interested to hear from both experienced directors and emerging leaders. While governance experience is desirable, it's not essential. We're open to providing governance training for the right people.
Perhaps the most important trait of a Glass Ceiling Arts Collective board member is empathy. Glass Ceiling Arts Collective has developed beyond a simple Arts charity into a nationwide movement, because everyone in our community understands the value of inclusion and inviting marginalised communities to take a seat at the table.
We ask board members to commit to a 2-year term, with the option of a further 2-year term by mutual agreement. The time commitment varies but, as a rough guide, we estimate board members commit to about 4 hours a month. The Board meets formally every 6-8 weeks; either online or in-person in central Auckland. We particularly encourage applications from individuals with a disability, Tāngata Whenua, Pasifika, and those with lived experience of a Disabled family member.
If you're ready to make a difference and help us create a more vibrant and inclusive arts community, we want to hear from you! To apply, please submit your expression of interest by sending a cover email/letter and a short CV highlighting relevant skills and experience to admin@glassceilingartscollective.com by April 28th.
